
To implement the Macao Special Administrative Region Government's commitment to better integrating into and serving the overall national development, actively respond to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area policies, and promote deep cooperation in multiple fields through pragmatic measures, as well as advance high-quality construction of the Greater Bay Area in the new stage, Director of the Health Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, Luo Yilong, recently led a delegation to visit Guangdong Province. The aim was to accurately grasp the latest developments in mainland medical care, so as to comprehensively and multi-level deepen exchanges and cooperation with different medical institutions in Guangdong. Injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area's healthcare sector.
The delegation first met with Liu Liqun, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission, and Wu Yilong, President of the Guangdong Medical Association. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on several core issues, including further promotion of medical talent exchange, ongoing training of practicing medical personnel, training for young doctors, cross-border medical cooperation, and emergency medical rescue in response to emergencies.
Director Liu Liqun highly praised the efforts and achievements made by the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR Government in promoting medical cooperation within the region and improving local medical service levels. He emphasized that Guangdong-Macao cooperation in healthcare is an important part of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area construction and is crucial for promoting the well-being of people in the region. Guangdong Province will fully promote cooperation in the medical and health fields between the two sides to provide better medical services to residents of the Greater Bay Area.
Director Luo Yilong sincerely thanks the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission for its long-term strong support for the development of Macau's medical and health sector. He stated that the Health Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government attaches great importance to cooperation with Guangdong Province, will actively implement all consensus, leverage the policy dividends of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, continuously expand the depth and breadth of cooperation, and jointly promote the medical and health sector in the Greater Bay Area to new heights. Wu Wenming, Director of Macau Union Medical College Hospital, introduced the hospital's development, and stated that Macau will leverage its geographical and policy advantages to actively engage in exchanges and cooperation with outstanding medical talents in the Greater Bay Area, jointly contributing to the health sector of Macau and the Greater Bay Area.
Subsequently, the delegation visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University to gain an in-depth understanding of the hospital's latest developments, including advanced medical technology, cutting-edge scientific research achievements, and innovative management models. The delegation met with Xiao Haipeng, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and Luo Teng, Party Secretary. Both sides agreed to use this exchange as a new starting point to strengthen exchanges in areas such as sharing high-quality medical resources, medical technology support, teaching, scientific research, and international academia, to promote deep cooperation in medical and health services in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, improve overall medical standards through efficient medical collaboration, better serve the people of both regions, and contribute medical strength to the prosperity and stability of the Greater Bay Area.
