The 14th Macau International Tourism (Industry) Expo (referred to as the "Travel Expo") has grandly opened. The Macao SAR Government Tourism Office and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone Economic Development Bureau jointly organized the "2026 Macao-Qin Health Traveler Forum" in a "one convention and exhibition, two locations" model, and held today (the 11th) at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Experience Hall in the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone. In addition, international buyers from the Tourism Expo were organized to visit the health industry organizations in Macau and Qin, promoting cooperation and resource sharing in the "tourism + big health" industry, and advancing the multifaceted development of Macau and Qin in the tourism economy.
Deputy Director of the Macau SAR Government Tourism Office, Stu Linli; Huang Zhongjian, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone; Liu Yahuang, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and President of the Macau Travel Agency Association; Zhu Jie, President of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone Tourism Association; Zhu Haisheng, member of the Guangdong Provincial Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Macau New Media Alliance, and Cai Xinhui, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Zhuhai Convention and Exhibition Tourism Industry Association, officiated at the launch ceremony. More than 110 people participated in this forum, including international buyers, overseas delegations, representatives from Macau, Hengqin, and related enterprises and associations from the Mainland China Expo.
In her speech, Deputy Director of the Tourism Office, Szeto Linli, expressed hope that the industry would seize the opportunity, ignite innovative thinking, fully utilize the two prestigious World Heritage sites of "Macau Historic District" and "Creative City of Gastronomy," integrate Macau's rich and diverse tourism elements, further develop health tourism routes for Macau and Macau and Hengqin, jointly promote the "Tourism+" industry linkage and integration of Macau and Hengqin, continuously enrich the connotation and appeal of the "World Tourism and Leisure Center," and support Macau's moderately diversified economic development.
One Exhibition Across Two Locations: Integration of Medical and Tourism
The "2026 Macau-Qin Health Traveler Forum" features two keynote speeches and a themed salon, inviting experts, scholars, and related business leaders from the academic and medical sectors of mainland China and Macau to discuss the development trends of Macau-Qinqin health tourism through innovation and integration in the "Tourism + Big Health" industry, and to promote industry-academia-research exchange and cooperation. The forum also introduced the Hengqin Cooperation Zone Traditional Chinese Medicine Cultural Experience Center and the Macau Zhongyuan Research and Health Manufacturing Plant. Representatives from Macau and Hengqin and relevant mainland enterprises and organizations held on-site discussions and exchanges to jointly explore the development potential of health tourism in both regions and promote the synergy and integration of tourism between Macau and Hengqin.
Keynote Speech 1: "Development Opportunities and Collaborative Challenges in Wellness Tourism in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" and Keynote Speech 2, "Optoelectronics and Skin Beauty," were delivered by He Mang, Associate Dean and Professor at the School of Tourism, Sun Yat-sen University, and Dr. Su Fei, Attending Dermatologist at the Outlying Islands Medical Complex, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Macau Medical Center, International Medical Center, and International Medical Center, sharing insights and rich experience in related fields with participants.
The themed salon explored "Sunac Symbiosis—Building a New Ecosystem for the Aoqin Health Tourism Industry," with several guests engaging in inspiring dialogues, including Zhang Yongyan, Director and Deputy General Manager of Guangdong-Macau Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Industrial Park Development Co., Ltd.; Lin Zixiang, Executive Director of the Hengqin Pien Tze Huang Museum and Secretary-General of the Belt and Road Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Industry Promotion Association; Huang Jumin, Research Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Macau, Vice President of the Macau Study Tour Development Association, and founder of Macau He'an Aromatherapy, along with Zhu Jianling, Coordinator of the Hengqin Zhenlin International Wellness Resort project, discussed and exchanged views on the core connotations of promoting the "Integrated Innovation and Symbiosis" of the Macau-Hengqin health tourism industry, current challenges and breakthroughs, and strategies and deployments for future cross-sector integration of "tourism + big health," sharing industry insights and academic insights.

The Macau Tourism Office organized international buyers from the Expo to visit the Macau-Qin health industry organizations, including medical institutions, wellness bases, traditional Chinese medicine research units, and health management enterprises, jointly exploring the "Tourism + Health" market. This year, for the first time, the Tourism Expo welcomed the outlying island medical complex Peking Union Medical College Hospital Macau Medical Center to participate, alongside several major health enterprises in Macau and Hengqin. Combined with this forum and study tour, attendees gained insight into the advantages of complementary resources and coordinated development between Macau and Hengqin.
Following the "1+4" economic moderate diversification development strategy, the Tourism Office continues to deepen cross-sector integration under "Tourism+," promoting the industry to tap into and utilize Macau's unique tourism resources, developing diverse "Tourism+" elements, jointly expanding diverse source markets, and supporting Macau's moderately diversified and sustainable economic development.
