Chief Executive Cen Ho-fai met today (18th) at the government headquarters with Zhao Yupei, Honorary President of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, President of the Chinese Medical Association, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Honorary Advisor to Peking Union Medical College Hospital Macau Medical Center. The two sides held in-depth discussions on the development of the health industry and the expansion of services at Peking Union Medical College Hospital Macau Medical Center.
Cen Ho-fai expressed his gratitude for the full support from Peking Union Medical College Hospital and for sending an elite team to participate in the operation of the Macau Medical Center. He pointed out that healthcare is an important livelihood issue, and the health industry, as a key sector cultivated by the Macau SAR government, is crucial for promoting moderate economic diversification and long-term prosperity. Peking Union Medical College Hospital Macau Medical Center will begin operations in phases at the end of 2024, bringing new momentum to Macau's medical industry. It is believed that with the joint efforts of Macau and Peking Union Medical College Hospital, it will surely build a first-class medical center with international influence, support the development of Macau's "medical + tourism" initiative, and further enrich the connotation of the big health industry.
Peking Union Medical College Hospital Macau Medical Center recently announced an expansion of specialist outpatient services. Cen Haohui welcomed this move, believing it is a major upgrade in Macau's medical services, not only providing convenient medical options for non-Macau residents but also further increasing its appeal to residents of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Southeast Asian countries. He stated that, in order to achieve the goal of "serious illnesses not leaving Macau," the Macao Medical Center has gradually expanded its specialist outpatient services, which fully demonstrates the SAR government's determination to broaden medical coverage and optimize the allocation of medical resources.
Also attending the meeting were Secretary for Social Affairs and Cultural Affairs Ko Lan, Chief Executive's Office Director Chen Ge, and Director of the Social Affairs and Cultural Affairs Secretariat's Office Lin Yuan; Wan Sucheng, Minister of the Propaganda and Culture Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macau; Zhang Shuyang, President of Peking Union Medical College Hospital and Honorary Advisor to the Macau Medical Center of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and Han Ding, Vice President of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, among others.
After the meeting, witnessed by Cen Haohui and Zhao Yupei, Ke Lan and Zhang Shuyang signed the "Outlying Islands Medical Complex Beijing Union Medical College Hospital Macau Medical Center 2025 Operating Cooperation Fee Details" on behalf of both parties.
