The Islands Healthcare Complex – Macao Medical Center of Peking Union Medical College Hospital (hereinafter referred to as “Macao Union Medical Center”) recently hosted its second public health lecture of the year. Dr. Lyu Wei, an expert seconded by PUMCH in Macao and chief physician of the Infectious Disease Department of the Macao Union Medical Center, and Ms. Yu Shuying, an expert seconded by PUMCH in Macao and clinical laboratory technician of the Clinical Laboratory Department of the Macao Union Medical Center, shared knowledge on hepatitis prevention and treatment and respiratory tract infections with the themes “Early prevention and treatment of hepatitis to safeguard your long-term health” and “Do not self-medicate for respiratory tract infections! Follow microbiology test results for accurate diagnosis” respectively.
Dr. Lyu Wei shared the transmission routes and early symptoms of hepatitis, emphasizing the importance of secondary prevention techniques such as “early detection and early intervention” to establish a robust immune defense system. Clinical laboratory technician Yu Shuying explained the transmission routes, risks and testing methods associated with respiratory tract infections. She recommended the participants take science-based precautions, receive vaccinations and uphold a healthy lifestyle, so as to enhance their physical resilience.
